%X Much progress has been made in many areas in Turkey during the republican period. Among these developments are the establishments of energy production facilities in cities with industrial potential. Kayseri was among these cities. Kayseri mayor and deputy, and a group of prominent merchants such as drapers, bricklayers, herdsmen, carpet dealers, wool makers, glue makers, blacksmiths, leather dealers and so on founded the Kayseri and Vicinity Electricity Turkish Incorporation. A short time later, the company built an electricity generation plant on the Bunyan Sarimsakli Waterfall. Electricity has made a great contribution to the socio-economic development of the city. The state and private enterprises and institutions operating in Kayseri have used the electricity produced in Bunyan. This has made a great contribution to the development of the industry and service sectors in Kayseri. The establishment of Kayseri and Vicinity Electricity Turkish Incorporation by a group of local entrepreneurs has been a success story of change and transformation. This company was fully founded with domestic capital. The company was able to survive the 1929 World Economic Crisis and came up to the present day
