%0 Journal Article %T Contribution of Benefactors to Education: Example of Kayseri Province %A BETš¹L ASLAN %A MERAL MET£¿N G£¿KSU %J - %D 2019 %X The basic characteristics of the Turkish nation, such as being benevolent and benefactor, have continued from past to present as a reflection of the understanding of helping others. For this reason, there have always been charity activities in Turkey, including important and different actors such as foundations, charities, associations, public institutions, companies, and individuals. Having the understanding of social responsibility, benefactors have opened schools and have given scholarships to students in the field of education. After the Republic was declared, studies were carried out in the field of education, even if there were economic difficulties in the country, and the people collected money through voluntary activities and built schools in the villages without school. In this way, education was aimed to spread to all levels of society. For this reason, the state and philanthropic people have worked together. We see one of the most beautiful examples of these activities in the people of Kayseri.
