%0 Journal Article %T An Interpretation and Translation of Publius Papinius Statius The Poem 2.7 of Silvae %J - %D 2018 %X This study aims to translate and succinctly examine the seventh poem from the second book of Silvae which was compiled of five complete books inclusive of thirty two short poems on various subject matters authored by one of the prominent poets of the Silver Age, Publius Papinius Statius. This study will prioritize the life of Lucanus supported by the data from the Classical Era accounts. The above-mentioned seventh poem was begotten as a particular usage of ¡°birthday poem¡± (Genethliacon). What makes the seventh poem unique compared to the other poems is the fact that the poem was written with tribute to a dead person. It also touches upon two significant subjects: A Poet and Roman Poetry.
