Vertical and lateral lithological variations in the squence were resulted from synsedimentary tectonism. Within the sedimentary sequence, 8 lithofacies and 3 different deposition environments were defined. The Jurassic-Lower Cretaceous sequence in the study area lies on the slightly metamorphosed Late Triassic rocks (Karakaya Complex) with angular unconformity. It begins with interbedded fan deltaic conglomerate and sandstone (Bay£¿rk£¿y Formation-£¿orakl£¿ktepe Member; grain-supported thick-bedded conglomerates, fine-coarse grained pebbly sandstones and fine-coarse-grained fossiliferous sandstone lithofacies). The redish and highly fossiliferous crinoidal limestone and ammonite bearing marl rest conformably on the sandy limestone following a fast deepening period. The intermediately bedded pseudonodular limestone with abundant crinoid, ammonit, Bivalvia and brachipoda follows the red and green marl. During Late Pliensbachian- Early Toarcian mudstone and sandstone progressively passes into variegated-redish limestone. This typical ammonitico-rosso facies (Beytepe Member; Red colored nodular limestone lithofacies) ocur as lens shape deposits within greenish mudstone (Beytepe Member; Red colored carbonate mudstone lithofacies). Due to block faulting formed after Callovian in the area, the basement Topography of the basin changed and the pelagic carbonate platform sediments (£¿ak£¿rlardere Formation; Pelagic oolitic limestones and micritic limestone lithofacies) having abundant ammonite and pelagic oolite were deposited directly on the basement rocks at the northern part of the study area. This points that shallow areas were formed off shore as a result of synsedimentary faulting. The pelagic ooid bearing limestone grades laterally and vertically into cherty limestone (So£¿uk£¿am Formation). During Oxfordian-Early Cretaceous, the area was deepened rapidly and the pelagic bio-micritic limestone (So£¿uk£¿am Formation; Cherty limestone lithofacies) was deposited %K Ammonitico Rosso %K Ankara %K Jura %K PCP %K Pelajik oolit %U http://dergipark.org.tr/sujest/issue/43923/540770
