%0 Journal Article %T The Intersectionality of Age and Gender: Doing Gender and Doing Age %A Deniz Pamuk %J - %D 2018 %X The gender and age formation processes are constant and may differ according to the time, the place and most importantly the culture which has been involved in. The concept of age, similar to the concept of gender, is an element which determines whether the individuals may get involved in a group of the society and also determines both the rules to obey and the experiences in the involved group. Just as gender is reconstructed in every phase of the life and in all conditions, age is also reconstructed in every phase not only by the individuals, but also by the society that surrounds the individual. Moreover, this reconstructing processes of both gender and age are not independent of each other. The experiences and thoughts of the individuals are formed as a result of interaction of two stated categories. In this paper, the similarities, interactions of both concepts and their roles on reconstruction of each other are aimed to be reviewed not only as the experiences of older adults, but also as the procedures experienced through the life course.
