%0 Journal Article %T AN INVESTIGATION ON THINKING FUNDAMENTAL BASIS OF TURKISH-TURANIST NATIONALISM %A Yusuf Ziya B£¿L¨¹KBA£¿I %J - %D 2018 %X Pan-Turkist-Turanist nationalism perspective emerged as a reactionist movement against the neo-Turkish identity that official Kemalist nationalism intended to construct and the main geographical and historical foundations this new identity was built upon. This nationalist thought which germinated in the Turkist ideologists¡¯ and historians¡¯ journals and which affected by the world conjuncture in the 1930s was subjected to be daunted with the Turanism court case in 1944 by the Official-Kemalist nationalism. Constructing a powerful nationalist understanding, the view of Pan-Turkish nationalism gained an identity that affected not only the formation and transformation of the Turkish nationalism but also the political and social life. This study aims to answer the question ¡°What are the ideological arguments of Pan-Turkist-Turanist nationalism¡±. The historical method was used in the study. It was hypothesized that Pan-Turkist-Turanist nationalism was shaped within the framework of ethnic nationalism, ambiguous opinions on religion, militarism, holistic understanding of history, xenophobia, otherization of different identities, anti-communism, and pan-Turanism. This study argues that the ethnic nationalism concept apparently differs from and covers the other ideological components of pan Turkist-Turanist nationalism approach. In addition, this nationalism encompasses its own concept of foreign policy.
