%X Recently, practices of eavesdropping have been discussed worldwide, yet it has not been sufficiently addressed in social scientific literature. This paper focuses on the emergence of eavesdropping and acoustic control practices and their historical trajectories in modern Turkey. Through concrete historical instances and narratives, it analyzes eavesdropping in the intersection of modes of listening, surveillance and control, modern sound technologies, cultural techniques, architectural designs, forensic practices and intelligence activities. Rather than discussing the post-digital modes of acoustic control, it addresses the historical, cultural, conceptual, governmental, technological and forensic layers of the complex network of power relations that generates this apparatu
