These digital monitoring tools are reported to have more advantages than traditional ways, because they enable timely and effective monitoring of public health threatening situations. However, as the importance of social media in public health surveillance increases, the concerns about the validity of these surveillance methods and their role in traditional public health infrastructure are increasing.
