Thus, we aimed to retrospectively investigate the relationship between thyroid hormone levels and lipid profiles, which play important roles in the development of obesity, and body composition in obese adolescents. Methods: The study population consisted of 45 obese, 48 overweight and 33 healthy adolescent girls, whose body compositions and biochemical parameters were measured at Batman State Hospital Diet Policlinic on the same day. Adolescents' obesity status, body composition parameters including muscle, bone and fat weight, fat content and basal metabolic rate were examined. Serum insulin levels, free thyroxine, and thyroid stimulating hormone and lipid profiles were also examined in the participants. Results: Obese adolescents had significantly higher total cholesterol, triglyceride and low-density lipoprotein levels than normal weight and overweight adolescents. The obese adolescents' thyroid stimulating hormone levels were significantly higher than the control group. Conclusion: These findings indicate that thyroid stimulating hormone levels significantly changed in obese adolescent girls. However, it may be suggested that clarification of the factors involved in the change of these hormone levels may contribute to the prevention of adolescence obesity and obesity related complications %K Obezite %K v¨¹cut kompozisyonlar£¿ %K tiroid stimulan hormon %K Serbest tiroksin %U http://dergipark.org.tr/hutfd/issue/44085/473065
