%0 Journal Article %T Definitions of "Femininity" and "Masculinity" of University Students %A G£¿n¨¹l Demez %A Tu£¿£¿e Tunca %J - %D 2018 %X Gender regardless of any biological considerations includes definitions of gender roles and social practices that determine the hierarchy and power relations between genders in a society. In this sense, gender stereotypes are socially constructed practices that are passed on to generations through socialization. This study focuses on definitions and experiences of university students' gender hierarchy. The aim of the study is to analyze the students' definition of masculine domination and hegemonic masculinity and to examine their experiences. From this point of view, the issue is debated with reference to in-depth interviews conducted with a total of twenty university students including eleven female and nine male students whose ages range from nineteen to thirty. The subject is examined through gender related themes as regards to in-depth interviewing.
