%0 Journal Article %T Global, Regional and Local Incidents Turkey Has Encountered and an Investigation of their Effects on Tourism Industry: The Case of Antalya and Istanbul %A Fatih £¿avu£¿o£¿lu %A Necdet Hac£¿o£¿lu %J - %D 2018 %X The purpose of this research is the assessment of the tourism in Turkey between 2010 and 2017 by revealing global, regional and local events affecting Turkey and the tourism in Turkey. Accordingly, this research indicates how the number, the nationalities, tourism revenues that gain from foreign tourists who come to Turkey and average per capita expenditure of incoming foreign tourists were affected in recent years by the global, regional and local incidents which have influenced the tourism in Turkey, Istanbul and Antalya, supported with statistical data. The literature review based on the research of second data and analysis of the documents were used for the methods of this research. It is evident that the tourism in Turkey between 2010 and 2016 has been increased due to the increment of incoming foreign tourists. The same result can be seen in the statistics demonstrating the increase in tourism in Istanbul and Antalya, specifically. The tourism in 2014 and 2015 has made history as golden years which refers to the best years for tourism in the history.In contrast, a sharp decrease in tourism regarding to the number of incoming foreign tourists in Turkey has been recorded in 2016 because of the political tension between Turkey and Russia, which had started late 2015 and had been continued over the course of 2016, coup d¡¯etat in Turkey and also the tension between Turkey, Germany and Netherland. However, the statistics demonstrates that the year of 2017 has been a recovery period for the tourism in Turkey. 2014 is the most efficient year regarding to total income from foreign tourists and their average per capita expenditures. Statistics clearly demonstrates that the incidents happened in 2016 has negative effects on the touristic income. This research contributes current data and information about the number of incoming foreign tourist visiting Turkey, Istanbul and Antalya and their nationalities, tourism revenues that gain from foreign tourists and average per capita expenditures statistically, global, regional and local parameters affecting the tourism in Turkey.
