%0 Journal Article %T Determination of Fruit Quality Traits in Some Hazelnut Cultivars Grown at Different Altitudes and Locations in Ordu Province %A Ersin G¨¹lsoy %J - %D 2019 %X Hazelnut whose cultural homeland is known as Anatolia has been grown in Turkey for centuries. Even though £¿ak£¿ldak and Ya£¿l£¿ is the most commonly cultivated hazelnut cultivars in Ordu province, other cultivars are also cultivated. The effect of different altitudes for two years (2016-2017) on fruit traits of 5 hazelnut cultivars (£¿ak£¿ldak, Kara, Palaz, Sivri, and Ya£¿l£¿), which meet 31.64% of total hazelnut production in Turkey and 36.34% of the production in Black Sea Region and are cultivated in Ordu province, was investigated in this study. For this purpose, nut samples were taken from 5 hazelnut cultivars grown in orchards with low altitude (100 m= Turnasuyu), medium altitude (350 m=Yemi£¿li), and high altitude (800 m=Ye£¿ilyurt) and various measurements and weights were performed. Hazelnut cultivars grown at different altitudes have average nut weight ranging between 1.52 g (350 m-£¿ak£¿ldak cv.) and 2.92 g (350 m-Kara cv.), a kernel weight ranging between 0.80 g (350 m-Sivri cv.) and 1.47g (350 m-Kara cv.), a kernel ratio ranging between 46.88% (350 m-Sivri cv.) and 55.52% (350 m-£¿ak£¿ldak cv.), a shell thickness ranging between 0.94 mm (350 m-Ya£¿l£¿ cv.) and 1.29 mm (800 m-Kara cv.), a nut size ranging between 14.27 mm (350 m-Sivri cv.) and 18.67 mm (350 m-Kara cv.) and a bleaching ratio ranging between 0.00% (350 m and 800 m Sivri cv.)- 87.58% (800 m Palaz cv.).
