%0 Journal Article %T Sources of Oral History: A Bibliographical Study %A £¿lker Dere %J - %D 2019 %X Oral history is one of the most important methods that contribute to the historiography of nations. This method first turned into an institution as a discipline at Columbia University in 1948. After this development, oral history has become widespread around the world. Nowadays, it is used as a data collection tool and teaching method in various fields such as anthropology, education, folklore, communication, architecture, music, radio and television, political sciences, sports, sociology, and history. However, the discipline has come to be known with History Foundation¡¯s attempts in Turkey in the 1990s. Especially, it is more used in investigations that are conducted in various fields after 2005. The current research aims to present investigations that are conducted in Turkey and around the world related to oral history systematically. The document analysis method is used in the study. Sources of the research are limited with Turkish and English languages. The research results have shown that oral history studies include many various disciplines all around the world. At the same time, it is established that 99 books or book chapters, 50 articles, and 215 dissertations were conducted regarding oral history in Turkey.
