%X It was controversial that when and by whom the Arslanhane Mosque was built. According to the ones who took an inscription on the western side of the building into consideration, the mosque was built by Emir Seyfeddin Ay-aba in the beginning of the 13thcentury. However, it is very difficult to establish a connection between this inscription and the mosque and Seyfeddin Ay-aba. The researchers, who took the inscription on the mosque minbar into consideration, suggested that the mosque was built by Akhi Husameddin in 1289/1290. This inscription has all the characteristics that must be found in a construction inscription. This study aims to contribute to these discussions, acting on the stories about Seyfeddin Ay-aba in the work of the historian Ibn Bibi and the events that took place in the second half of the 13thcentury
