%X In this study, the disenthrone of the Ottoman Sultan V Murad and the throne of Sultan Abd¨¹lhamid II were examined. In the light of the documents found in the Ottoman State Archives, II Abd¨¹lhamid's ascend to the throne was evaluated with traditional and unusual aspects. Sultan V Murad was depose by state administrators because of his mental illness and his brother Abd¨¹lhamid II came to the throne instead. The difficult situation in the country, the winds of change in the world, in the Ottoman Empire and in the Islamic world caused an intense expectation about Abdulhamid II.
