%X The implications of rapid population growth and urbanization is causes tragic changes to endanger the natural habitat in the last years. The most tragedic results are seen on this natural resources of humanity which qualified as commons. The Gediz Delta is one of commons and the natural habitat area that located on new urbanization axis of £¿zmir. In this paper ¡°The Tragedy of Commons¡± were highlighted as many theories from Garrett Hardin to Elinor Ostrom. For this purpose, Landsat satellite images for the years 1987, 2005 and 2010 were classified by using different image classification techniques to evaluate land use-land cover changes. Results indicate that, while pastures and agricultural areas are decreased, settlement and industrialization areas are increased in the plain of Gediz Delta. The most probable solution of this situation is the decision makers should be product in-depth solutions on the "Commons" by getting help from participants who representing different communities in each cas
