%0 Journal Article %T The Effect Of The Methods Applied In The Treatment Of Omphalocele On Survival %A Veli Avci %J - %D 2019 %X Aim: Omphalocele is the most common congenital abdominal wall defect in newborns. There are several approaches to treatment. In this study, we aimed to present our 10 years experience about treatment approaches of omphalocele patients with the literature. Materials and Methods: The effect of gender, birth weight, concomitant congenital anomalies, defect size and length of hospital stay on the treatment modalities of patients who underwent surgery for omphalocele between 2009-2018 was assessed retrospectively. Results: Twelve patients (6 males, 6 females) with omphalocele were included in the study. The mean birth weight of the patients was 2330 ¡À 890 grams. 58% of the patients had concomitant congenital anomalies. The mean diameter of the defect was found to be 6.3 ¡À 2.3 cm. It was observed that the mortality rates increased as the defect diameter and the number of accompanying congenital anomalies increased. The most common method of primer closure was preferred. All the patients treated with the silo method were lost. There were no complications after the treatment of three patients with large defects which we conservatively treated using silver sulphadiazine. Discussion and Conclusion: Several methods have been reported in the literature in the treatment of omphalocele. The methods used in the treatment have effects on survival. Mortality rates are higher in patients with large defects especially treated by the silo method %K Omfalosel %K tedavi %K y£¿ntem %K yenido£¿an %U http://dergipark.org.tr/bmedj/issue/43533/492140
