%0 Journal Article %T THE CORRESPONDENCE OF £¿BN¨¹LEMIN MAHMUD KEMAL AND KEMALEDDIN HARPUTI- I %A Ahmet Karata£¿ %J - %D 2019 %X There is a friendship between £¿bn¨¹lemin Mahmud Kemal £¿nal, a famous and important person of Turkish culture and literature, and Kemaleddin Harputi that is heredited from their fathers. This friendship firstly started in absentia since £¿bn¨¹lemin was in Istanbul and Kemaleddin Efendi based in Harput and continued with letters for a time. Kemaleddin Efendi who was the m¨¹fti of Ma¡¯muret¨¹¡¯l-aziz between 1916-1926 was charged with being against the revolutions such as the abrogate of the caliphate and wearing hat by £¿ark £¿stiklal Courts in 1926 and was taken into custody on 27th of July 1926 and all of his documents in his house and office were confiscated. In this article fifteen letters of £¿bn¨¹lemin written in his younger age and Kemaleddin Efendi¡¯s draft responses found in this confiscated documents were transcribed into the Latin alphabet and we discussed some of the topics mentioned in those letters. The most remarkable one among these is a Turkish pamphlet written by Kemaleddin Efendi upon the request of £¿bn¨¹lemin and is about the religious provision regarding taking photographs, drawing portraits and painting with a refrence to his father¡¯s ideas. Other remarkable topics can be listed as: £¿bn¨¹lemin¡¯s ¡°Na¡¯t-£¿ Nebi¡± in verse, his discussion on prose vs. verse, and his writings under the pen-name Cemil Sat£¿ and H¨¹zni on the discussions of ¡°Edebiyat-£¿ Cedide/ Dekadan¡± %K T¨¹rk-£¿slam Edebiyat£¿ %K £¿bn¨¹lemin Mahmud Kemal %U http://dergipark.org.tr/inijoss/issue/46583/538362
