%T THE CLASSIFICATION OF THE WORDS IN SIDK£¿ BABA¡¯S DIRGES AND ELEGIES IN TERMS OF THE SOURCE LANGUAGE

%X Sidk£¿ Baba, the child of a Dede Karg£¿n tribe member family from Malatya, was born in Tarsus Yenice in 1865. He died in 1928 in Har£¿z, a village of Merzifon where he spent part of his life and was buried there. The poet, whose real name is Zeynel Abidin, used the Sidk£¿ or Pervane pseudonym in his poems. Sidk£¿ Baba is one of the important poets of Alevi-Bektashi culture. Sidk£¿ Baba, who is a member of a branch of Ahmed Yesevi lineage in Anatolia, produced poems of both syllable and prosodic forms. Under the influence of his education and the sect he has developed, he has worked on the subjects of religious-sufism. The last book published about Sidk£¿ Baba belongs to Baki Ya£¿a Altinok. Alt£¿nok, in this book called Sidk£¿ Baba Divani, has included 772 poems of the poet. When these poems are analyzed, it can be seen that Sidk£¿ Baba used many different types of poems and genres such as dirges, elegies, epics, dewriyes and guzellemes. In this study, the dirges and elegies of Sidk£¿ Baba will be examined comparatively in terms of the origins of the words used. This study was based on the dirges and elegies in Altinok¡¯s Sidk£¿ Baba Divani. This book includes Sidk£¿ Baba¡¯s 14 dirges and more than 40 elegies. The most prominent of the dirges is for Hz. Huseyin. In addition, the dirges for Seyyid Celebi Cemalettin Efendi are also important. Also, the elegies which are written for Hz. HUseyin and Seyyid Celebi Cemalettin Efendi are noteworthy. The aim of our study is to determine and classify the origins of the words used by Sidk£¿ Baba in his dirges and elegies. As a result of these comparisons, it will be tried to determine whether or not the word choices in Sidk£¿ Baba¡¯s dirges and elegies are related to the origin or genre. Sidk£¿ Baba¡¯s choices about the words, as being a witness of the last period of the Ottoman Empire and the foundation of the Republic of Turkey is also important in terms of giving tips about understanding the language of the period
