Considering that approximately 210 million women are pregnant each year, it is understood that maternal health is a matter to be considered. Progress has been made in reducing maternal mortality worldwide, but this is irregular at both global and national levels. Comparisons between the burden of maternal deaths in developed and developing countries are considered "the greatest disagreement of all public health statistics".
