%0 Journal Article %T Career Plans, Career Indecision and Strategies for Coping with Career Indecision among Emerging Adults %A Fidan Korkut Owen %A Serap £¿zdemir %A Tansu Mutlu %A £¿zlem Ula£¿ K£¿l£¿£¿ %J - %D 2019 %X The purpose of this study is to examine the career plans, the level of career indecision and the strategies of career indecision of the emerging adults. A total of 85 students enrolled in current study. 77 of the participants were in their final year of university and seven of the participants were third grade students. Data were collected with open-ended questions in current study by using phenomenological method. The qualitative data were evaluated through content analysis. When the participants' statements about their career plans are examined, the participants aim to be appointed as the first, secondly to have a master's degree, and thirdly to work in a private institution and finally to hang out their shingle. Emerging adults experience career indecision since they remain between the dilemma of career alternatives, do not know what to do in case they cannot be assigned and interrogate the suitability of the teaching profession for themselves. Participants use productive coping strategies such as information seeking, self-reliance/regulation and accommodation. In addition, they use the strategies of instrumental help-seeking and emotional help-seeking, getting support in consultation with others.
