%0 Journal Article %T DEVIL ACCORDING TO THE BIBLE AND THE QUR¡¯AN %A Harun I£¿£¿k %J - %D 2018 %X Devil has been analyzed under the title of Semiiyyat in the tradition of the Ilmu¡¯l-Kalam. In the Bible and the Qur'an, he plays a part as a concrete entity associated with rebellion, insurrection, perversity, evil, mischief, in short, all the negativities. In the Old Testament, the devil is a being created by God as an instrument of testing people, with roles such as accusing, libelous and enemy. Afterwards, however, he has become God's competitor as a cosmic force. In the New Testament, he was portrayed as a good angel until the process of getting kicked out of subsequent to rebel against God. With the dismissal in the sequel of his rebellion, he tuned into the evil character angel. As for the Quran, Iblis, who is in the same position as the angels, is to be dismissedon the back of his rebellion against God and to gain the devil's character. However, he is a demon created from the fire and in a different category from the angels in terms of creation. In three religion, devil has a central position as being trying to prevent the peace and happiness of man.
