%T THE FACTORS AFFECTING BED OCCUPANCY RATE IN PUBLIC HOSPITALS

%X There are many factors affecting the performance of hospitals in our country where a significant portion of health care services are provided by the public. Among these factors, the physical conditions of the hospital have a significant share. The factors affecting performance in public hospitals were investigated in this study. Bed occupancy rate was used as a sign of hospital performance. According to the results obtained from the regression analysis, hospital scale, personnel structure, health service offering specific skills and socio-economical structure of the geographical area have an significantly affect on the bed occupancy rate. It is concluded that the physical characteristics of hospitals are an important factor affecting hospital performance
