Drug treatment is inadequate at the situation where people respond positively to treatment, and is far from the recovery process. Recent studies have shown evidence that vitamins and minerals in the diet play an important role in these depressive disorders that occur in humans. The effects on the central nervous system are the resultant Folate and B12 vitamins. In our study, Folate and vitamin B12 levels of outpatients treated with Eski£¿ehir Osmangazi University psychiatric department were examined. For this purpose, 343 patients with vitamin B12 levels and 250 patients with Folate levels who were referred to a psychiatric service in 2016 were retrospectively determined. All the data obtained were evaluated statistically by SPSS 21 package program. As a result of the evaluation, the prevalence of folate deficiency was found to be 15.6% and that of vitamin B12 deficiency was found to be 15.45%. For our results consistent with the literature, it can be said that vitamin B12 and folate levels should be routinely monitored during the diagnosis and treatment of major depressive disorder.
