%0 Journal Article %T Preservice Teachers¡¯ Attitudes and Metaphor Perceptions towards Mathematics %A OKAN KUZU %J - %D 2018 %X In this study, preservice teachers¡¯ metaphor perceptions about mathematics concept were examined with film type and weather conditions metaphors. Moreover, their attitudes towards mathematics concept were investigated, and the relation between metaphor perceptions and departments was examined. In this context, in the 2015-2016 academic year, 358 preservice teachers in the central Turkey were administered various scales such as ¡°Mathematics attitude scale¡± ¡°,"Personal information form", and ¡°Mathematics is like ¡­ , because ¡­¡± and ¡°If a mathematical film type (weather conditions) ..., it would be, because ... ". The data were analysed using the content analysis and descriptive statistics. As a result of the analysis, it has been seen that the metaphors about mathematics concept are divided into the conceptual categories as ¡°Entertainment¡±, ¡°Basic need¡± ¡°Emotion¡± and ¡°Problem¡±. Moreover, The metaphors collected in positive and negative categories by considering metaphors of film type and weather conditions, were found significant differences according to preservice teachers¡¯ attitudes towards the mathematics concept and their departments.
