%0 Journal Article %T Proverbs in Tutmaci¡¯s G¨¹l ¨¹ H¨¹srev Mathnawi %A Ma£¿allah K£¿z£¿lta£¿ %J - %D 2019 %X Proverbs, which are the reflections of the experiences of mankind in the life of a social presence, are short and concise words. Each society has transferred its unique lifestyle to the future with its cultural elements called proverbs. The first examples of proverbs in the Turks are found in the G£¿kt¨¹rk inscriptions. The tradition of using proverbs continued in Yusuf Has Hacib's Kutadgu Bilig and Edib Ahmed¡¯s Atabet¨¹£¿kl Hakay£¿k. The first work that compiles the Turkish proverbs is the Divanu L¨¹gati¡¯t T¨¹rk by Mahmud of Kashgar. In our classical poems, especially in Pendnames, proverbs were written religious-moral and love mesnevi and divans. In this study, the proverbs in Tutmac£¿¡¯s Mesnevi, Gul ¨¹ H¨¹srev, are emphasized. G¨¹l ¨¹ H¨¹srev is a translation of the Iranian poet Attar¡¯s 7708 couplets Mesnevi which known as H¨¹srev-name. G¨¹l ¨¹ H¨¹srev was written by Tutmac£¿ in 1406 and it is total of 5499 couplets.
