%0 Journal Article %T Ash¡®ar¨©¡¯s Disagreement with Shafi¡®¨© Over Islamic Legal Methodology %A Davut E£¿it %J - %D 2019 %X In addition to being an Ash¡®arite theologian Ashh¡¯ari was also a theoretician of us£¿l al-fiqh. Although there are different evaluations of Ash¡®ari's fiqh identity in biographical studies, it is necessary to say that the Shafi'£¿ school has embraced him strongly. However, Ash¡®ar£¿ has his own authentic views in us£¿l al-fiqh without being connected to any sect. Some of the views defended by Ash¡®ar£¿ in us£¿l al-fiqh differ from the views of Shafi¡®£¿. This study deals with Ash¡®ar£¿¡¯s opposition to Shafi¡¯i and the established views of Shafi¡®£¿ sect and the results of this opposition. Given the fact that Ash¡®ar£¿ and Shafi¡®£¿ represent an eclectic structure in the historical process, it is certain that Ash¡¯ari¡¯s opposition to Shafi¡®£¿ has caused an intellectual dynamism in Shafi¡®£¿ sect.
