%0 Journal Article %T HEALTHY LIFESTYLE BEHAVIORS AND ASSOCIATED FACTORS OF UNIVERSITY STUDENTS %A Belgin Y£¿ld£¿r£¿m %A Duygu Ye£¿ilfidan %A Filiz Adana %A G¨¹leng¨¹n T¨¹rk %J - %D 2019 %X This is a cross-sectional study that aims to identify healthy lifestyles of university students and associated factors. The study sample consists of 1640 students who were studying at a university in 2017-2018 academic year and consented to participate in the study. Data were collected using the "Healthy Lifestyle Behaviour-II Scale (HLBS)¡± and a questionnaire form developed based on a review of the literature. Ethics Committee permission and other permissions were obtained before the study. Descriptive statistical analysis, Student T test, One way Anove and correlation analysis tests were used to analyze the data. 67.6% of the students participated in the study were female and 32.4% were male and the mean age of the students was 21.61¡À1.86. The average of the total score of the students in the HLBS II scale was 128.79¡À20.61. The scores in sub-dimensions were in the range of 17.57¡À5.28-26.13¡À4.79. A difference was found between students' age, gender, place of residence, economic status, chronic diseases, meal skipping behaviour, participation in sports, body image and healthy lifestyle behaviours. Based on the study findings, it can be concluded that university students have moderate level of healthy lifestyle behaviours and personal variables play a determinant role on such behaviours.
