%T The Evaluation of the Treatment of Mechanic Ileus Caused by Foreign Body (Ear Ring) and ItĄ¯s Postoperative Results: 6 Cases

%X Pricking or non pricking foreign bodies are common in domestic animalsĄ¯ stomach and intestine. It is reported that operation is the most reliable treatment method of obstruction caused by foreign body. Six Turkish Sepherd dogs (4 male, 2 female) referred to Eriyes University Veterinary Faculty Animal Hospital were used as material. After clinical, laboratory examination and operative preparation the animals were operated on. In operations, the foreign bodies were found in pylorus (2 cases) and in ileum (4 cases). At the controls on the 30th and 60th days in postoperative periods, no complication was seen in any of the animals. In this study detected foreign bodies detected were sheep ear rings. The identified foreign bodies showed the need to pay attention to the foods given to the animals for feeding purposes. Furthermore, it was once again demonstrated that gastrointestinal foreign bodies could not be clearly identified in the light of laboratory findings, and therefore it should be supported by imaging methods. It is concluded that radiographic imaging is necessary and sufficient for the detection of the radiopaque bodies
