%T MUTAWATIR QIRAATS IN TERMS OF NAHW IN ABU HAYYAN¡¯S TAFSIR TITLED AL-BAHR AL-MUHIT

%X The hijri 7th and 8th centuries witnessed im- portant linguists in Andu- lusia and Egypt. Some of them were Ibn Manzur (d. 711/1311), Ibn Hisham (d. 761/1360), Ibn al-Ha- jib (d. 646/1249), Ibn ¡®Usfur (d. 669/1270), and Ibn Malik (d. 672/1274). One of those linguists of the time who enlightened his period and the ages to come with his works was Abu Hayyan al-Andalusi (d. 745/1344). He wrote many books in a number of fields. The most im- portant of his works is al-Bahr al-Muhit in the field of tafsir that has a very rich content in terms of qiraats. Abu Hayyan generally mentioned all the qiraat aspects ei- ther mutawatir or shazz found in every verse of the Qur¡¯an. He analysed these q£¿raat aspects de- pendent on inspecting the aspects as sarf and nahw without discriminating mutawatir or shazz. This study will provide expla- nations, regarding how he assessed mutawatir qiraats in the aspect of nahw in his work
