%0 Journal Article %T Society and Law in al-F¨¡r¨¡b¨© and Kant¡¯s Political Philosophy %A Tanju Toka %J - %D 2018 %X In this study, the social and legal views in the political philosophy of al- F¨¡r¨¡b¨© and Kant were examined comparatively. These philosophers claim that human being is a creature who was always in need of his species from the very beginning of his creation, therefore human beings have to live together in order to survive. But, they dissent from each other in the matter of natural state. According to al- F¨¡r¨¡b¨©, advocating organized social structuring on the basis of human nature, society is a part of human nature. Within this framework, it is understood that socialization, including political organization, emerged simultaneously with the emergence of human beings. However, according to Kant governmental organization is neither originated from human nature, nor it is part of the existence. In their natural condition, human beings constitute their rational-legal demands aiming to secure their liberty and equality through a state which has also being established on the basis of legal contract. Besides, while Kant asserts that human beings need nothing other than their own reason in order to reach perfection, al- F¨¡r¨¡b¨© thinks that perfection can only be gained through following the right guide. In this context, in Kant¡¯s political philosophy free individual can reach perfection in republican social structure established on the basis of on human law, on the other hand the case is not the same in al- F¨¡r¨¡b¨©¡¯s philosophy. In al- F¨¡r¨¡b¨©¡¯s opinion human being is deficient entity in terms of hiscreation. As a result, he needs a guide to reach true happiness which is the purpose of his existence and this guide is first president.
