%0 Journal Article %T Investigation of Environmental Sustainability Index Systems Developed for University Campuses %A Bilge £¿zdo£¿an %A G£¿khan Civeleko£¿lu %J - %D 2018 %X Environmental sustainability is the transfer of a healthy environment that will be created by environmental policies and strategies by eliminating or reducing the negative consequences of any action to future generations. Universities are micro-scale atmosphere of environmental problems arise. Therefore, universities have a great responsibility for sustainability studies. Index evaluation systems play an active role in the work on sustainability and environmental issues and on the raising awareness of the issue. The study examined national and international environmental sustainability index systems developed for university campuses. The Green Metric and University League were investigated in detail from the index evaluation systems. The importance percentages of the categories included in the index evaluation systems were taken into account. It was found that the categories should be clear, measurable, verifiable as well as the system should be transparent and understandable. It was observed that there is no environmental sustainability index for university campuses on local basis.
