%0 Journal Article %T The role of rural landscape characters in the preparation of village design statements: the case study of Elmal£¿, Antalya %A Meryem AT£¿K %A S£¿la BALTA %J - %D 2019 %X It is important for sustainable development to maintain the traditional texture of rural landscapes and especially rural settlements, which are characterized by traditional field uses and natural environment and which have the most prominent characteristics of cultural landscapes, and to ensure the continuity of rural life. According to Recent Law Numbered 6360 on Setting Great Municipalities in Fourteen Cities and Twenty-seven Towns rural settlements has become city neighborhoods. With the law, rural settlements have been brought to the agenda in urban areas. Village Design Statement (VDS) aiming to preserve the spatial character of rural settlements will be an effective tool in the preservation of rural character in terms of zoning practices. In this study, it was aimed to examine the VDS in landscape sample and rural landscape characters in Elmal£¿, Antalya. 51 villages in Elmal£¿, which stand out with the diversity of rural landscapes, have been analyzed by elevation, location and settlement forms; VDS components were defined for each village with settlement and characteristics, garden features, cultural values in the light of rural landscape characters in 6 villages including D¨¹den, Armutlu, Yaln£¿zdam, Y£¿lmazl£¿, Bozh¨¹y¨¹k and G¨¹m¨¹£¿yaka. The results of the study, showed that field use activities, landscape design, natural environment relationship, cultural structures and traditions, connection networks, border elements, vegetation due to the use of areas, settlements, buildings and structures provide important information for VDS with characters and for the implementation of Law No. 6360 in Elmal£¿ %K Elmal£¿ %K K£¿rsal peyzaj %K K£¿y tasar£¿m rehberi %K Peyzaj karakteri %U http://dergipark.org.tr/mediterranean/issue/41736/475220
