%T A study on the content analysis of Journal of Turkish Veterinary Medical Society in the 86th year of publication

%X Following the beginning of the scientific veterinary medicine in the world, association and publication activities were also started. Turkish Veterinary Medical Society was established along with the transformation of the ¡°£¿stanbul Et£¿bbayi Baytariye Muhadenet Cemiyeti£¿, which was founded in Istanbul in 1927 to ¡°T¨¹rk Baytarlar Cemiyeti¡±. The first issue of the periodical of this Society ¡°Journal of Turkish Veterinary Medical Society¡± was published on October 1, 1930. In this study; from the first publication day to the end of the year 2016; all articles published in the Journal of Turkish Veterinary Medical Society were evaluated comparatively and content analysis was performed according to years and subject titles. It was detected that 4555 articles, which were written by Turkish and foreign authors in four different languages were published in the Journal between 1930- 2016. 180 of these publications were the articles translated into Turkish from a different language. It was determined that the most numerous scientific articles were published in the field of Veterinary History & Deontology and the least were published in the field of Biostatistics. Social publications were excluded from the Journal and the Journal with only scientific articles after 2009 has been indexed in various databases from the beginning of 2009. With all these qualities; this Journal, which has reached both the private veterinarians and academicians with the scientific articles and social publications, has fulfilled a unique historical mission for 87 years as the longest periodical ever on veterinary medicine in Turkey
