The flowers are greenish purple, the leaves are oval, the fruits are black and bright. Deadly nightshade includes important alkaloids suvh as atropine, skololamine, belladonnaine, hypocaine,apoatropine. The most important chemical substance is atropine. £¿ts active ingredient was isolated in 1809 and later classified as alkaloid by 1819. All parts of the plant contain alkaloids although the highest alkaloid ratio is in the green leaves and in the fruites. £¿t is the desirable that the ratio of several coteche alkaloids is not less than 3 %.
