%0 Journal Article %T THE EFFECT OF INSTRUCTION BASED ON COOPERATIVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT SUPPORTED WITH WORKSHEETS ON STUDENTS¡¯ ACADEMIC ACHIVEMENT %A B¨¹£¿ra £¿ALI£¿KAN %A Canan CENG£¿Z %A Faik £¿zg¨¹r KARATA£¿ %J - %D 2018 %X The aim of this study is to determine the effects of using concept cartoon supported worksheets along with jigsaw technique on students¡¯ understanding of the ¡°Clean Energy Resources¡± topic. A quasi-experimental research design was utilized in the study. The study was conducted with two groups and a total of 65, 10th grade students including a treatment group (N=33) and a control group (N=32). In the control group, lessons were performed with the prescribed teaching methods in the program while worksheets and jigsaw technique was used in experimental group. The data collection tools of the study were consisted of an achievement test, worksheets filled by the students and reflective journals kept by the teacher. The achievement tests were administered to all participants as pre- and post-test. In order to compare the students¡¯ achievements between treatment and control groups, SPSS statistical packet program was run. The students¡¯ worksheets and the teacher¡¯s journals were analyzed descriptively. A significant difference was found between post-test achievements scores in favor of treatment group even though there is no significant difference between pre-test achievement scores of the groups. The data gained from the achievement test were supported with the data gained from the worksheets and the reflective journals.
