The time of replantation is main determinant of the treatment prognosis. When the periodontal ligament is damaged in the permanent teeth after trauma, the repair process may result in ankylosis. Ankylosis interferes with the vertical growth of the alveolar process, which can lead to an open bite, an unesthetic smile, infraocclusion of anklosed tooth, tilting of the adjacent teeth, elongation of antagonist teeth, and occlusal disharmony. Removal of an ankylosed tooth may be difficult and traumatic leading to esthetic and functional problems for young patients. Recently a treatment option for ankylosed teeth named ¡®decoronation¡¯ has gained interest. In this article, in terms of prosthetic rehabilitation which can be done later, recent literature on decoronation demonstrating its importance and clinical benefits has been reviewed %K Ankiloz %K dekoronasyon %K b¨¹y¨¹me %U http://dergipark.org.tr/dmj/issue/45445/429109
