The factors affecting these include other people, other societies and physical factors. The most concrete and most inclusive provision of physical factors is geography. Geography is composed of various elements and these elements are not distributed homogeneously to the earth. These elements have influenced individuals and societies throughout history. Geographic elements were seen as obstacles in old times. However, with the advancement of the technique, people avoided the negativities caused by geography and they knew how to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the geography. The decisive influence of geography on society and politics seems to have been broken by technological progress. However, it affects the political processes by affecting geography, politics and society. Geopolitical and political geography studies examine the relationship around the concept of power. These effects are indirectly seen through the culture that shapes attitudes and behaviors. Political science comes into play at this point. This relationship points to more than a power relation, and the scope and problematics of political science can be addressed to provide a different perspective. In this article, the effects of the geographic elements given in the headings on politics are discussed with examples from history and the opinions of the thinkers who have worked on this subject.
