%0 Journal Article %T Inflation Current Account Deficit and Banking Sector Credits in Turkey: A Research for the Period 2006-2018 %A Mehmet B£¿l¨¹kba£¿ %J - %D 2019 %X This study aims to research the relationship between inflation, current account deficit and the banking sector credits in Turkey's economy by using econometric analysis. In this context, the monthly data covering 2006:January-2018:November period was used, VAR (vector autoregressive) analysis and the Granger causality test was chosen as econometric method. The reason why the period started in 2006 was that the CBRT (The Central Bank of The Republic of Turkey) had started ¡°the explicit inflation targeting¡± in this year. Thus, it was asked to determine the relationships between the variables in the period when the explicit inflation targeting was applied. According to the findings obtained from the econometric analysis, although the variables are related to each other in the period covered, the effect of banking sector credits on inflation is higher than the current account deficit. The effect of inflation and banking sector credits on the current account deficit is very close to each other and 9.9% of the changes in the current account deficit are due to inflation and 9.2% is due to banking sector credits. In addition to this, the causality test results show that, there is a bidirectional causality relationship between inflation and banking sector credits, and a unidirectional causality from inflation and banking sector credits to current account deficit %K Enflasyon %K Cari a£¿£¿k %K Bankac£¿l£¿k sekt£¿r¨¹ kredileri %K T¨¹rkiye %U http://dergipark.org.tr/ssrj/issue/45017/539932
