%0 Journal Article %T The Data of Neurology Clinic, K£¿r£¿kkale Univers£¿ty Faculty of Medicine as a Central Anatolian Sample %A Bahar SAY %J - %D 2019 %X Objective: Neurological diseases have an important role due to the increase in incidence, disability and health expenses. The aim of study to was determine the spectrum and rate of neurological diseases in the Neurology Clinic of K£¿r£¿kkale University Faculty of Medicine Hospital as a sample of central Anatolia. Material and Method: In this retrospective study, medical files of the patients who were hospitalized in the neurology clinic between August 2016 and August 2018 were examined. The files and diagnosis were reviewed by the physician and the main diagnosis and demographic characteristics were recorded according to the International Classification of Diseases. Results: 805 (422 female, 383 male) patients were evaluated. The number of patients in the inpatient care was 712 and in the intensive care unit was 93. Fifty-one (10.7%) of the female patients and 43 (10%) of the male patients were followed-up in the intensive care unit. Age distribution was higher than 70 years. According to the diagnoses, 413 (51.3%) cerebrovascular disease, 119 (14.7%) epilepsy, 62 (7.7%) syncope, 60 (7.4%) vertigo, 51 (6.3%) headache, other syndromes, 44 (5.4%) multiple sclerosis 17 (2.1%) inflammatory polyneuropathies, 11 (1.3%) Parkinson, 7 (0.8%) myasthenia gravis, 7 (0.8%) dementia, 5 (0.6%) normal pressure hydrocephalus, 4 (0.4%) Guillian Barre Syndrome (GBS) 3 (0.3%) motor neuron disease, 1 (0.1%) Lambert Eaton syndrome and 1 (0.1%) Herpes virus encephalitis were seen. Conclusion: In this study, we analyzed the two-years clinical data of a university hospital next to the capital in central Anatolia, although the sample size is small. Our findings were consistent with the literature and the most common diagnoses were cerebrovascular disease and epilepsy. The most common patients were above 70 years of age.
