It can be ascertained that he was a good calligrapher from his works. Afif Damad£¿ (son-in-law) Osman Efendi was married to the daughter, Emetullah Han£¿m (?-1770), of another XVIII. century calligraphist Afif £¿brahim Efendi (?-1768) and because of this he used to pen his works in the name of his father-in-law and was subsequently always known in the world of calligraphy as ¡°Afif Damad£¿ Osman Efendi or Afif Damad£¿ Deli Osman.¡± With the publication of these records new facts have come to light with regard to Deli Osman Efendi. It is not known how long he was married to Emetullah Han£¿m for. However given that Emetullah Han£¿mla died 36 years before Deli Osman Efendi, it cannot be supposed that they had a long married life.
