%0 Journal Article %T Clinical fetaures of primary orbital masses and their impact on visual functions %J - %D 2019 %X Purpose: To identify clinical features of patients with primary orbital mass and evaluate how visual function parameters change following treatment. Materials and Methods: Medical records of patients with primary orbital mass were retrospectively investigated. All patients were evaluated with ophthalmological examination including visual acuity, visual field, fundus and color vision before and after 3 months of surgery. Results:Of the 55 patients included in the study, 45 (81.8%) had tumoral and 10 (18.2%) had non tumoral masses. Most common lesion was dermoid cyst in all orbital masses (32.7%). Of the tumoral masses, 66.7% were benign and 33.3% were malign. Most common presenting symptom was proptosis (40%). Compared with control eyes, eyes with orbital masses had significantly lower visual acuity (0.49¡À0.26,p<0.001) and visual field (MD=4.56¡À1.9, p<0.001; PSD=3.42¡À1.25, p<0.001) values and significantly higher fundus changes (p<0.001) and color vision (p<0.001) impairment. Compared with before treatment, eyes with orbital masses had significantly higher visual acuity (p<0.001) and visual field (p=0.007 ve p=0.02) values and significantly lower fundus changes (p=0.03) and color vision impairment (p=0.039) after surgery. Conclusion:Primary orbital massess have negative impacts on visual function.
