%0 Journal Article %T The Smoking Behaviors and Dependence Levels of Young People Who Apply Family Medicine Outpatient Clinics %A Mehmet Ziya Gen£¿er %J - %D 2018 %X Purpose: The aim of study was to provide data on smoking behavior and addiction levels of adolescents and young adults with different socioeconomic conditions and to find solutions for effective prevention of addiction. Materials and Methods: 300 voluntary young, aged between 15 and 35 years, having good mental status who applied to Family Medicine Clinics at Okmeydan£¿ Training and Research Hospital were included study. The corelations between one¡¯s smoking behaviors and level of dependence with socioeconomic and demographic datas were evaluated. NCSS (Number Cruncher Statistical System) 2007 (Kaysville, Utah, USA) program was used for statistical analysis. P <0.05 was considered significant. Results: 52,7% were female, 47,3% were male; 300 young participated to study. 30,7% of the cases were smoking at least one cigarette or more every day; 17.0% occasionally smoke; 15.3% quit smoking and 37.0% never smoked. Of the smokers, 30.1% were very mildly addicted, 12.6% were mildly addicted, 7.0% were predominantly dependent and 23.1% were found to be highly dependent. According to monthly income of the family, the smoking status of the person is statistically significant difference (p = 0.001, p <0.01). There was a statistically significant difference in the smoking status of the family according to their smoking status and one¡¯s addiction scores (p = 0.001, p <0.01). Conclusion: Psychosocial processes of young people at risky age groups in terms of starting smoking must be interpreted correctly and necessary precautions should be taken by health authoritie %K ergen %K gen£¿ eri£¿kin %K ba£¿£¿ml£¿l£¿k d¨¹zeyi %U http://dergipark.org.tr/aemj/issue/41876/453990
