%T The Motivations that Effect the Movie Selection of Audience Experience and the Reception of Movies: The Example of Recep £¿vedik

%X Recep £¿vedik film series are one of the most watched films in new period Turkish cinema. The 4 films of the serial became the most watched movie of the year. The main goal of this article is to explore, the tendence of the audience about this film serial. This study has come out of the question of why this film series has been watched so much. Two basic questions have been sought for this purpose. The first one is why the audiences prefer to watch these films and the second is how they understand the character of Recep £¿vedik. The study was inspired by the study of reception and depth interview was used as the data collection method. Two stages have been used to examine to review the reception process of the audience. These are the process of choosing before watching the films, and the second is how they interpreted the movies in duration of movie. The results of the interviews, which have been made with an interview group including 6 female and 6 male voluntary participant, by the age of 24 between 37, from different career field and educational attainment, who live in Ankara and watched all of the serials, (at least the three of movies have been watched at Cinema), have been subjected to the qualitative analysis. Beside this, reasons of the choise of Recep Ivedik movie serial have been evaluated. The most important outcome of the research is that even though the audience has conscious and effective role in the progress of movie selection, the movie has a determinant and directive impact with the content and form on the audience. However the reasons of this movie serial has been observed as ¡°entertainment¡±, in the necessity of modern city life, the audience, who suffocates from the obligations, converges these kind of movies potentially with the sensation of being out of pressure. However male and female participiants, differ by the recipiant progress and selection, in point of main reasons, closely results have been obtained
