%0 Journal Article %T City Square as a Memory Space and Its Transformation: The Case of Otto Herbert Hajek¡¯s Ankara Hergelen Square Project %A Mustafa SEV£¿N£¿ %J - %D 2019 %X Our memory has a temporal as well as spatial implication. Events based on our past experiences leave traces in the space and these traces are sources of our memories. Space is an important element for the survival and protection of memory. The interaction of space with memory reveals the reproduction of past in the present time within a mutual relationship by prioritizing the experience. Space is both a product of our experience and a production phenomenon that constitutes our experiences. In this respect, the city produced by people exists as a memory model by opening memory dialogue with its physical environment and social setting. The change in the physical environment of the city is also a social change. This article attempts to explain the dialogue of memory with space through the object of art in urban, square and public environment.
