%0 Journal Article %T Effect of Pholiota aurivella Lyophilized Extract On Some Biochemical and Hematological Parameters Against CCI4-£¿nduced Oxidative Stress In Rats %J - %D 2018 %X Mushrooms play an important function to protect organisms from the toxic effects of some harmful compounds. In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the effects of Pholiota aurivella lyophilized extract on blood parameters against carbon tetrachloride (CCl4)-induced oxidative stress in rats. After the toxicity test, rats were divided into four experimental groups: Control, CCI4, CCI4+P.aurivella (100 mg/kg, extract) and CCI4+P.aurivella (500 mg/kg, extract) groups. At the end of 4 weeks experiment, the roles of the orally administrated P.aurivella extract oral administration against CCI4-induced oxidative stress were evaluated by measuring hematological parameters, erythrocyte fragility, antioxidant defence system such as reducte glutathione (GSH), glutathione reductase (GR), glutathione S-transferase (GST), catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GPx), superoxide dismutase (SOD) activities and malondialdehyde (MDA) content in erythrocyte of rats. According to the results, CCI4 and CCI4+P.aurivella groups caused significantly decrease in GSH level according to Control group. On the other hand, in CCI4 group GPx enzyme activity significantly decreased according to Control and CCI4+P.aurivella groups. Also, erythrocyte fragility (especially 0.6 % NaCl concentration) significantly increased in the CCI4 and CCI4+P.aurivella groups according to Control group. Significant decrease in some hematological parameters (RBC, HGB, HCT, WBC, PLT and PCT) and markedly increase in RDWs were observed in CCl4 group. Although CCI4 had clear harmful effects on the parameters examined, it was difficult to say this for P.aurivella. However, P.aurivella might be harmful because of its contribution to the hemolysis of erythrocytes.
