%T Role and Importance of Ornamental Plants from Aesthetic and Functional Point of View Campus Life

%X Especially in our country, with the increase of urbanization consciousness and environmental awareness, emphasis on green areas has also started to increase. In developing and changing societies, the importance of ornamental plants which form the foundation stone of green areas in terms of environmental, visual life and especially architecture is increasing day by day. The correct use of ornamental plants also has a significant share in those more livable campuses where social-cultural activities are carried out. Especially, the dynamic structure, of green spaces it is important for campus sites where students and academics actively use to plan as a design area for ornamental plants in terms of mental, physical and social development. In this study, ornamental plants were determined and evaluated in terms of plant design in Zonguldak B¨¹lent Ecevit ¨¹niversitesi £¿aycuma campuses. Our country has a rich diversity of ornamental plant material in terms of its climatic conditions and location. The ornamental plants located in the campus area of with richness of this diversity were also discussed in terms of their positive and negative qualities and user needs regarding their functional use within the scope of the study. As a result of observations made in the study area, preferred plants and methods of use; functionality and aesthetic properties were evaluated
