%0 Journal Article %T The Effect of Writing Circle Technique on Prospective Teachers¡¯ Creative Thinking Skills %J - %D 2018 %X Purpose: The purpose of this research is to specify the effect of writing circle technique on prospective teachers¡¯ creative thinking skills. Design & Methodology: In total, there are 82 students in this group, 42 students in experimental group and 40 students in control group. In the research, ¡°creative thinking scale¡± of Akay (2006) and ¡°semi-structured interview form¡± improved by researchers have been used as data collection tools. Quantitative data of this mixed-method research are obtained from ¡°creative thinking scale¡± and qualitative data are from semi-structured interview form and students diaries. In addition, some data are collected by document review method. In the process of data analysis, the following methods have been used; frequency (f) and percentage (%) calculation to determine the prospective teachers¡¯ creativity levels; Mann-Whitney U Test as the creativity scores do not range in a normal way; descriptive analysis regarding the contribution of writing circle to teaching-learning process; and descriptive and content analysis method for the effectiveness of the writing circle. Findings: According to the findings of the research, it can be said that the activities carried out with the writing circle technique provided important contributions to the creative skill levels of the experimental group and they developed high level skills. Control group students¡¯ creative thinking skills are at an intermediate level can be interpreted. Implications & Suggestions: At the end of the research, students have improved further their critical and creative thinking skills; they were confronted with some problems and tried to overcome them by applying different methods and techniques.
