%T As a Qur¡¯anic Translator, Prof. Dr. H¨¹seyin Peker: His Life, Works, Prelectors and Students

%X There has been accumulation on Qur¡¯an translation studies from the republic day of Turkey until now. One of these studies is the book entitled ¡°Kur¡¯an Meali¡± which has been written out by Prof. Dr. H¨¹seyin Peker. In this article, the topic of the research is the life of H¨¹seyin Peker who has been a translator of the Quran. The aim of the research is to give information about Peker¡¯s life, works, prelectors, graduate and postgraduate students who have been educated by him. The scope of the research is confined to Peker¡¯s life, works, prelectors and students. The method of research is considered as a biography which depends on an interview made with teacher H¨¹seyin Peker and literature review. The research consists of four stages. The information is provided about author during the first stage. Within this scope, Peker¡¯s birth, childhood years, educational background and official duties are discussed. These mentioned issues are taken into account as part of the interview made. In the second stage, works which have been belong to H¨¹seyin Peker are analyzed. In this sense, books which are especially in the names of ¡°Son £¿lahi Mesaj Kur¡¯an ve A£¿£¿klamal£¿ Meali¡± and ¡°Kur¡¯an Meali¡± have importance with regard to exegetics. In the third stage, prelectors who contributed to Peker in order to be an expert in the psychology of religion and a translator of the Quran are introduced. In the fourth stage, teacher H¨¹seyin Peker¡¯s graduate and postgraduate students who have been educated by him, and what their professions are introduced
