%0 Journal Article %T A Study on Women Studies in Psychology and Working Conditions of Women in Academia %A Olga H¨¹nler %A £¿nci Boyac£¿o£¿lu %J - %D 2019 %X In this study, women¡¯s status in the work environment and the problems related to sexism in psychology departments have been discussed. The situation and problems of gender studies in the field of psychology have been investigated concerning women¡¯s movement in Turkey. In this part representation of women¡¯s problems, the extent of research on sexism and representation of feminism in the academic field of psychology in Turkey have been explored. Furthermore, the ratio of female and male employees in psychology departments was summarized in relation to gendered discrimination practices. Finally, work-related problems of female academics were summarized via the results of a descriptive study conducted in psychology departments. For the data collection 485 women, academics were invited to participate in an online survey. Eighty-seven participants were agreed to fill the questionnaire investigating their experience on gender discrimination. The results revealed that even though women academics are equally represented in psychology departments, sexist behaviors and attitudes are stillcommon in the academic workplaces.
